He Taught at the Birmingham School of Art, where he was head of the Metalwork department from 1904 to 1907. He was also one of the Artificers&#8217; Guild designers, so an important influence in the Arts and Crafts movement.  This 18ct gold has been set with a deep oval cut sapphire that has an approximate weight of just under two and a half carats and is most likely from Sri Lanka (Ceylon) There is a split pearl on either side and leaf and bud detail that continues down the shoulders into a rope motif around the shank. <\/p>\n<p>An unusual ring that would be a great addition to an Arts and Crafts collection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting Arts &#038; Crafts ring that we have attributed to John Paul Cooper who was born in 1869 and died in 1933.
