A beautiful 15ct gold snake ring that was made in Birmingham in 1859. The snake’s head has been hand engraved and the eyes have been set with tiny cabochon emeralds and the top of the head has been set with a natural split pearl and four small turquoise split beads. It is rare that we see a snake ring with this level of detail. When worn the snake winds around the finger beautifully and the tail wraps around the head. Snake jewellery was particularly popular in the Victorian era as the Victorians loved sending secret messages. Snakes symbolise “Eternal love” and the diamond set in to the snake’s head means “Eternal Love”. Famously, Queen Victoria was given a snake ring as her engagement ring from Albert which increased their popularity at the time.
