The front of the heart is an ornate granulation technique and is in the Etruscan style that was popular at that time. Although granulation, embossing, and <span class=\"glossary-tooltip glossary-term-369619\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"glossary-link\"><span class=\"glossary-underline\">filigree<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0had been used in Mesopotamia and Egypt much earlier, the Etruscans perfected the techniques to a very high level. The delicacy and technical precision were a complete novelty for that time in the 5th to 8th century AD.
