The top and bottom peridots are an\u00a0 irregular hexagon cut with an octagonal cut peridot in between. Peridot is a gorgeous stone. It was named after the French word peritot, meaning gold, because the mineral can vary towards this colour. Peridot is also the <span class=\"glossary-tooltip glossary-term-373192\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"glossary-link\"><span class=\"glossary-underline\">birthstone<\/span><\/span><\/span> for the month of August and is the stone given to celebrate the 16th year of marriage. Peridot has a very long written history. Ancient papyri record the mining of these stones as early as 1500 BC.<\/p>\n<p>This pendant was made circa 1910-1920 and is a two colour mix of platinum and 15ct gold.
