It was made in the late Edwardian period circa 1910-1920 and has been double claw set with a lively deep opal that displays flashes of red and blue predominantly with some vivid green.\u00a0 Opals are fascinating stones as they contain around 7% water which gives them their luminosity.\u00a0 They were imported from Australia in huge amounts around the turn of the twentieth century and were extremely fashionable and sought after stones.\u00a0 On either side of the opal is a diamond that not only highlights the opal but gives the ring a good balance in design.\u00a0 It is beautifully made and sits low on the finger.\u00a0 \u00a0A lovely engagement or dress ring.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A neat looking 18ct gold ring with platinum settings.
