It traces its origins to the opening by Henry Birks of a small jewellery shop in Montreal in 1879. It has been set with a rectangular cut zircon. Zircon is the oldest mineral on earth and is found in the crust of the earth. It was a popular stone in the 1920s so we see a lot of zircons in jewellery from that period. Zircon is also the birthstone for september. It is surrounded by small round diamonds with baguette cut diamonds on either shoulder.
