The total weight is approximately 5.20 carats. It was made in the Edwardian period, circa 1900-1914 and is typical of the style from that era with flower and leaf motifs. Platinum is a very strong metal so it can be used sparingly unlike earlier silver pieces which look heavier than this necklace. The result is a lace like quality. There is added millgrain detail to the edges of the platinum. Millgrain was achieved with the use of a knurling tool and looks like little grains, hence the term, on the platinum.
