It was made in the early 1920s when this  linear design was popular. It was a move away from the fussy designs that had gone before and the intention was to show off the aquamarines with as little distraction as possible. The pendant has been set with two matching aquamarines. The top oval cut aquamarine has been set within a decorative fluted setting with two outer rings of gold interspersed with four natural split pearls. The drop contains a pear shaped aquamarine within an open pear shaped surround with a knife edged gold bar set with a further natural split pearl above it. Aquamarines are beautiful and sought after stones. The seawater colour of aquamarine has given this gemstone its name as the word \u201caquamarine\u201d is derived from the Latin word for seawater.
