They have each been clawA precious metal prong used to hold a gemstone in place. set with a large citrineCitrine (from the French for ‘lemon’) is a rare, yellow type of quartz, a semi-precious stone that ranges in colour from pale yellow to orange to golden brown. The best quality citrine is found in Brazil.. The citrines have been foiled to the reverse which gives them more lustre. The design is ornate with a rope border around the edge and around the citrines. They have been heavily gilded with an 18ct75% pure gold (or 750 parts pure gold and 250 parts other metals) gild and beneath they are silverA metallic element which is malleable and ductile, and white in colour, making it ideal for use in jewellery. It is usually mixed with copper to improve its hardness.
