Victorian Scottish Silver & Agate Drop Earrings

13M/PR
773 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A really lovely pair of silver Scottish earrings with thistles at the top and an interwoven design below set with different agates such as jasper and bloodstone. They were made circa 1860-1880. This style grew up around Queen Victoria’s purchase of Balmoral Castle in 1860. Many pieces were made as tourist trinkets to the travellers who flocked to the Cairngorms to discover the beauty and serenity of the Scottish mountains.
