Victorian 9ct Gold, Scarab Beetle Tie Pin

38L
876 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

An interesting tie pin that was made circa 1890. The emerald green scarab beetle that is set in to a 9ct gold mount is truly amazing. It has an iridescent colour. There was a great deal of interest in ancient Egypt following the discovery of the first tombs in the late 19th century. The Scarab is one of the most notable and recurring symbols in ancient Egyptian mythology and so became a common theme in late Victorian jewellery and in to the 20th century. All our tie pins come with a stopper at the end of the pin.
