Discover MoreA good Victorian 9ct gold guard chain that was made circa 1880-1900. The links are slightly faceted so that they catch the light when worn and each link has hidden inner links which stop the chain wearing, an ingenious Victorian invention. They lead to a dog clip at the end which was usually used to attach a pocket watch or a cylinder of fur known as a muff to keep the wearer’s hands warm in winter. It can be worn twice or three times around the neck.
