Victorian 18ct Gold & Garnet Ring

282R
Written by Olly Gerrish

A good looking 18ct gold ring that was made circa 1840. It has been set with a cushion cut deep ruby red garnet within a pinched collet setting. Garnet is the birthstone for January and the stone that celebrates the 2nd anniversary of marriage. It is a bright red, fiery crystal of passion and is thought to be one of the oldest crystals used for spiritual protection throughout history. Its name comes from the Latin granatum meaning pomegranate, due to how the crystal represents the seeds of this delicious fruit. Garnets were found as beads in a necklace worn by a young man in a grave that dates back to 3000 B.C. This is proof of the hardness and durability of the stone. It is a neat looking ring and comfortable to wear
