Victorian 18ct Gold, Five Stone Old Cushion Cut Diamond Ring

35W
120 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a lovely five stone diamond ring that was made in Birmingham in 1876. The 18ct gold band has been claw set with five well matched old cushion cut diamonds that have a total estimated weight of around 80 points. Unlike modern brilliant cut diamonds, old cushion cuts are square or rectangular in outline with high crowns which produce flashes of colour known as ‘fire’. The ring sits low on the finger and curves around nicely. It would make a perfect engagement ring.
