Victorian 15ct Gold Fede Ring

619R
440 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

This style of ring goes back to Roman times if not before. It is known as a “fede” ring which is a design of ring in which two hands meet and are clasped in friendship, love or betrothal. It became prominent in the medieval period from the 12th century onwards and in more modern times. The name fede is from the Italian phrase “mani in fede” or “hands clasped in faith”. The hands pull apart to reveal two hearts. It is a wonderful expression of love hidden behind the clasped hands and would make a perfect and unusual wedding band. This ring was made circa 1840 and cannot be sized
