Victorian 15ct Gold Double Snake Ring set with a Ruby & Sapphire With Rose Diamond Eyes

561S
280 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful 15ct gold double snake ring that was made in Birmingham in 1893. It is well modelled unlike some snake rings that we come across. In each of the snake’s heads is a ruby and a sapphire There is a small rose diamond in each eye of the snakes. The snake motif in antique jewellery represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this ring would have been a gift from an admirer. It is as appropriate today to give to a loved one as it was in the 1890s.
