Popular during the Victorian, Edwardian and Art Deco eras but was discontinued in the mid-1930s. gold and was made circa 1860 when this type of bow brooch with a heart shaped drop was in fashion. The heart has a locket section on the reverse so it may have contained a lock of hair originally. It has been intricately engraved with leaves and flowers and is a lovely example of jewellery that was made in that period.
