Aksel Holmsen was a Norwegian maker of sterling silver jewellery. The company was founded in 1932 in Sandefjord Norway. The company is well known for modernist aesthetic. Much of their work is silver gilt with enamelled guilloche and basse-taille designs. This brooch is typical of their work and is a lovely stylish design. It was made in the 1940s.
