Scottish Silver & Carnelian Arrow Brooch

918L
474 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A charming silver arrow brooch that was made for the tourists who went to Scotland from the 1860s onwards after Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral Castle. The arrow head and fletching are engraved silver and the shaft is natural banded carnelian. The hidden meaning of this brooch refers to the sport of archery but really means “an arrow through your heart” referring to Cupid and Love.
