40 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual Georgian ring that was made circa 1800-1820. It has been set with a dendridic agate. Dendridic agate is basically a fossilised fern growing within the agate.  It is a rare stone and is known as the stone of plentitude and is believed to bring abundance to all areas of life.  It was associated with the ancient Greek dryads, woodland and tree spirits and was buried in the fields at the time of sowing to insure a good harvest. This example is surrounded by rubies and has a simple shank which is typical of the period.
