Georgian Gold & Flat Cut Garnet, Maltese Cross Pendant & Brooch

939H
Written by Olly Gerrish

This brooch is in fantastic condition. The flat cut garnets are foiled at the back and literally glow and sparkle. It was made circa 1820. It can also be worn as a pendant. The eight points of the 15th century cross which the Knights of Malta adopted as their symbol mean:

– to live in truth
– to have faith
– to repent one’s sins
– to give proof of humility
– to love justice
– to be merciful
– to be sincere and wholehearted
– to endure persecution
