Georgian Double Row Paste Set Ring

Written by Olly Gerrish

A good original Georgian ring which was made circa 1820. It is 15ct gold and set with paste in silver across the top which was a common procedure. They used to cut the foil at the base to create what is called the Black Spot in imitation of the “culet” on a diamond. Later on this proceedure was dropped as it was too labour intensive. You can see the use of the Black Spot in this ring.
