Georgian Amethyst Paste & White Paste Silver & Gold Drop Earrings

535D
Written by Olly Gerrish

A truly great pair of Regency drop earrings which were made circa 1800-1820. They are silver fronted with gold wash on the reverse which is entirely in keeping with the period. The paste is in good condition as sometimes with foiled paste it can become discoloured. There is a black spot at the base of the foiling of each white paste that was intended to imitate the culet of an old mine cut diamond. You can always date items of jewellery when you see this
