Georgian 9ct Gold Tipped Garnet & Natural Split Pearl Mourning Ring

128S
800 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

This rather eccentric late Georgian ring was made in 1815. It is 9ct gold and has been set with a foiled back faceted garnet. Around it are natural split pearls. The shank is typical of the Georgian period with a reeded and entwined motif. Engraved on the reverse is Phil Tubb ob (died) 24th may 1815 At (aged) 18.

I love the tipped design, perhaps it meant that he had sadly fallen off his perch!
