Written by Olly Gerrish

An attractive 9ct gold ring that has been pinched collet set with five green paste. It was made circa 1820. At that time real emeralds were not only rare but were extremely expensive, so quite a few jewels were set with green paste. Each paste has been foiled to give added luminescence. The shank is typical of the period with scored detail.

These rings are hard to find and are very collectable.
