Georgian 18ct Two Colour Gold , Turquoise & Garnet Flower Basket Pendant with inset Citrine Base

639S
600 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A charming 18ct gold basket pendant that was made circa 1820. It has been set with garnets and turquoise with bunches of grapes hanging over the sides and applied leaves in a different colour gold. Grapes are viewed as a symbol of abundance and fertility, and turquoise means “Forget me not” after the flower of the same name. Set in to the base is a citrine. These little works of art would have been given as tokens of love in the Regency period.
