For the Hood family. It has their crest on one side, a coat of arms on another, and the top of their crest featuring a bird with an anchor on the final side. The motto “juncta jn uno” “joined in one” or “United in one” and a further motto “Tria juncta in uno” which is for The Most Honourable Order of the Bath. This is a British order of chivalry founded by George I in 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as “Knights of the Bath”. This seal was made circa 1780.
