French Early 20th Century 18ct Gold Snake Ring set with a Sapphire & Ruby Eyes

Written by Olly Gerrish

A well modelled 18ct gold coiled snake ring that was made in France circa 1910-1920. It has been set with a sapphire in its head, and it has two ruby eyes. Snake jewellery symbolised eternal love and is a lovely sentiment to wear on one’s finger either as an engagement ring or a dress ring. The ring was made by Léon Hatot who was based at 23 rue de la Michodière & 12 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honoré, Paris France and created jewellery for Boucheron, Cartier, Lacloche, and Tiffany.
