French 18ct Gold Diamond & Ruby Swallows Brooch

917K
821 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A stunning 18ct gold brooch of four swallows perched on a tiny gate. Their bodies are studded with rose diamonds and they have tiny ruby eyes. There are twelve pearls on the gate. The swallow was considered daring, risk-seeking, and a symbol of change for good in the future. It also meant “Everlasting love” and “loyalty” as swallows mate for life. This brooch is comparatively rare and is called a “Novelty brooch”. It was made in France circa 1900-1910.
