French 18ct Gold Belle Epoque 18ct Gold, Old Mine Cut Diamond & Natural Bouton Pearl Cluster Earrings

Written by Olly Gerrish

A spectacular pair of 18ct gold earrings that were made circa 1900-1910 in France. Spanning the years between the end of France’s Second Empire (1852-1870) and the beginning of the First World War, the Belle Époque was an age characterised by optimism, economic prosperity, and technological and scientific progress in Europe. In this prosperous climate, the arts flourished especially jewellery. These flower earrings are a typical example of what was made. Each flower has been set in silver settings with eight graduated old mine cut diamonds with smaller rose diamonds below in the petals, within an 18ct gold frame. In the centre is a natural bouton pearl. The wires have hinge back fittings that are secure. They look fantastic when worn.
