Edwardian Silver & Yellow Enamel Round Cufflinks

Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual pair of round silver cufflinks set with beautiful yellow enamel. This type of work is known as “guilloché” – a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into the underlying silver via engine turning. The transparent coloured yellow enamel is then fired and the result is seen here. Faberge made many pieces using the “guilloché” technique.
