chains. It is a “giardinetti”, meaning “little gardens” pendant. From the late 17th century onwards this Italian word was applied to describe articles of jewellery, mainly rings, brooches, and pendants with an intricate floral openwork motif, consisting of colourful gems set in designs resembling flowers and often arranged in vases or baskets. This silver pendant is a a pretty example and was made circa 1910.
