Edwardian Platinum, Peridot & Diamond Ring

765N
740 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A wonderful platinum ring that was made circa 1915-1920. It has been set with a rectangular peridot surrounded by over a carat of well matched old mine cut diamonds within millgrain settings. The Egyptians called peridot the “gem of the sun”. Peridot is named after the French word “peritot”, meaning gold, because the mineral can vary towards this colour. It was also believed to bring the wearer confidence, power, and general good luck and health. Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August. It is also the stone given to celebrate the 16th year of marriage. It sits low on the finger so it is a comfortable and practical ring to wear. It would make a lovely engagement or dress ring.

Ollys Pick

Peridot rings are hard to find and this one is a very pretty style.
