Book Your AppointmentThese three enamelled nautical flag charms are part of the International Code of Signals. It is a standardised series of signals, encompassing the use of flags which vessels are expected to use to communicate with one another. It is designed in such a way that it can be universally understood regardless of what language the crew may speak. It originated in 1817 when Captain Frederick Marryat, a Royal Navy officer and novelist, published a set of 16 flags for the Merchant Service. This system became widely adopted and is still in use today.
