Edwardian 9ct Gold Drop Earrings set with Flat Cut Garnets & Natural Split Pearls

Written by Olly Gerrish

An impressive pair of 9ct gold earrings that were made circa 1900-1910.  At that time there was a Georgian Revival and necklaces, earrings and rings were produced using the flat cut garnets that were so popular in the 1820s. The slight difference is that the later pieces have been pinched collet set with redder stones. They are not the purplish almandine garnets that were common in the Georgian era. So it is fairly easy to tell the dateline although we often see pieces listed or sold as Georgian.

Either way these earrings are very pretty and feature four pear shaped garnet drops and chains set with natural split pearls.
