It was once considered as valuable as ruby, sapphire and emerald.. It is a good clear stone with no visible inclusions. It was made circa 1910 when pale violet shades were very popular as they went with the fashions of the time. Above the amethyst is an engraved 9ct37.5% pure gold (or 375 parts pure gold and 625 parts other metals) gold three pointed crown. The large original loop above is also 9ct gold. It is as wearable now as it was in the early 20th century.
