Edwardian 18ct White Gold & Platinum, Black Opal & Diamond Oval Cluster Ring

507P
919 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A wonderful 18ct gold ring with a platinum top that was made circa 1910-1920. It has been set with a stunning black opal that weighs approximately five carats. The colours are like peacock feathers with great depth of colour and a touch of red seen at certain angles. The opal originates from Lightning Ridge in Australia. The first recorded black opal was found there in 1873. It is the only place where black opals are sourced. It is surrounded by well matched white diamonds within millgrain settings. A perfect ring for an admirer of black opals.
