Written by Olly Gerrish

This is a classic engagement or dress ring that was made in Birmingham in 1903 by Deakin & Frances. Founded in 1786, the company was originally known as Deakin and Moore from 1848–1879. Charles Deakin retired in 1881 and John Francis joined the firm. The company then became known as Deakin & Francis, becoming a limited company in 1902.  It is a lovely flowing open design and has been claw set with a ruby with a trefoil on either side set with three diamonds.  Deakin & Frances are famous for high quality jewellery and this ring is no exception.
