Edwardian 18ct Gold & Platinum, Diamond Cluster Ring with Diamond Set Shoulders

Written by Olly Gerrish

A very pretty 18ct gold daisy cluster ring that was made circa 1910. It is a lovely well balanced design with a  slightly raised centre that has been claw set with a thirty five point diamond and smaller diamonds around it.  The centre diamond is a good bright 35 point white stone.  There are also small diamonds set in to the shoulders. There is further millgrain detail on the platinum. This is when the edges of the metal have been worked with a knurling tool to produce tiny beads, hence the French name “Millgrain” meaning a thousand beads. The top is platinum and the shank is 18ct gold.  It would make a wonderful engagement ring.
