Edwardian 18ct Gold & Platinum, Amethyst & Diamond Cluster Ring

294T
640 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful 18ct gold ring with a platinum top that was made circa 1910-1920.  It has been set with a lovely amethyst.  On either side is a ten point diamond that breaks up the line of smaller diamonds that surround the amethyst.  Amethyst has always been associated with February, the month the Romans dedicated to Neptune, their water god.  Therefore, it should be no surprise that it is the traditional birthstone of that month.  It is the stone of St. Valentine and faithful love and signifies ecclesiastical dignity as the Bishop’s Stone.   There is millegrain detail throughout.  It would make a stunning engagement or dress ring.

Ollys Pick

This is a most unusual and very pretty ring.
