Edwardian 18ct Gold, Opal & Rose Diamond Cluster Ring

Written by Olly Gerrish

A really pretty 18ct gold opal and rose diamond ring. It has been set with a good vibrant opal which has wonderful flashes of red, blue and green. Around the opal are twelve rose diamonds. It was made circa 1900-1910 when opals were in vogue. They were imported from mines such as lightning ridge in Australia. These opals are hard to come by now and there are a lot of fakes around which look like the real thing but are in fact glass. It has unusually ornate shoulders with pierced scroll work.
