Edwardian 18ct Gold, Opal & Diamond Marquise Ring

482P
455 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful 18ct gold ring that was made circa 1910 and is possibly Austrian as it has an import mark in to France. It is typical of the Belle Epoque period as the design is both graceful and delicate. At that time the marquise shape was very popular, as were opals as they went with the soft pale coloured silks that were in fashion. This ring has been set with a stunning opal that displays flashes of mainly green and blue with some red. Around it are transition cut diamonds. The bifurcated shoulders have been set with graded rose diamonds that lead on to a reeded shank. It would make a wonderful dress ring.
