Edwardian 18ct Gold Double Snake Ring set with Diamonds & a Ruby

946U
200 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful 18ct gold double snake ring that was made in London in 1916. It is well modelled unlike some snake rings that we come across in that the two snakes are really hugging each other. In each of the snake’s heads is an unusual pear shaped diamond and a beautiful pear shaped ruby. Each snake has tiny diamond set eyes. The snake motif in antique jewellery represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this ring would have been a gift from an admirer. It is as appropriate today to give to a loved one as it was in the early 1900s.
