Edwardian 18ct Gold Double Snake Ring set with a Ruby & Diamond

851X
80 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

A beautiful 18ct gold double snake ring that was assayed in London in 1902.  It is well modelled unlike some snake rings that we come across. In each of the snake’s heads is a ruby and a diamond and the eyes are little gold bobbles.   The snake motif in antique jewellery represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, so pieces such as this ring would have been a gift from an admirer or would have been given as an engagement ring.

It is as appropriate today to give to a loved one as it was in the early 1900s.
