Early Victorian 18ct Gold, Three Stone Peridot, Ruby & Rose Diamond Ring

Written by Olly Gerrish

A lovely 18ct gold ring that was made in Birmingham in 1866. It has been claw set with three well matched peridots with a ruby at either end. In between are rose cut diamonds. The gold scroll work on either side is typical of the early Victorian period and there is hand engraving on the shoulders. Peridot is the transparent gem variety of the mineral olivine. It is one of the few natural unheated gemstones that only occurs in one colour, green. The peridots contrast so well with the rubies and little rose diamonds. Altogether a very pretty early Victorian ring.
