pendant that was made circa 1910. It is a typical design for the EdwardianJewellery made in the Edwardian era (1901-1914). period with a heart and bow motif. The heart has been set with a pink pasteGlass made to resemble gem materials, which may be moulded, faceted, carved, etc. with a small green paste above. Around and above the heart is graduated marcasiteThe marcasite of jewellery is in fact iron pyrite as marcasite itself is too brittle alone for the durability required of a piece. This jewellery marcasite is sometimes called ‘fool’s gold’ given its heavily metallic appearance. Marcasite of this kind also offers a kind of iridescence, explaining its use as a more affordable diamond replacement that wi... (iron pyrites) that imitate the hard glitter of rose diamonds. I love the tiny bow above that has also been set with a small pink paste and marcasite and suspends the heart on two silver chains.
