Early 20th Century Unheated Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Crossover Ring with Diamond Set Shoulders

172U
400 Admirers Rare Find
Written by Olly Gerrish

A lovely example of a crossover ring that was made circa 1920. It is made from 18ct white gold with a platinum top and has been claw set with an old mine cut diamond and a stunning sapphire in a similar size and shape. The diamond weighs approximately one carat and the sapphire weighs an estimated 1.20 carats.  The shoulders have each been set with three graduated old mine cut diamonds. The ring is accompanied by a gemmological report stating that the sapphire is a natural stone with no indications of heating, originating from Sri Lanka (Ceylon). This would make an ideal engagement ring.
