Arts & Crafts 18ct Gold Ring set with an Aquamarine attributed to Arthur Gaskin

Written by Olly Gerrish

A pretty 18ct gold Arts and Crafts ring that was made circa 1910. It is clearly hand made with an intricate pierced leaf work design with an oval cut aquamarine in the centre. The shank is a fluted design that flows in to the top motif.

I would attribute this ring to have been made by Arthur Gaskin. Arthur and his wife Georgie Gaskin started producing jewellery from 1899 under the name “Mr & Mrs Arthur Gaskin”, and in 1903 Arthur was appointed headmaster of the Vittoria Street School for Jewellers and Silversmiths, where he was to remain until 1924, when the couple retired to Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire.
