Art Nouveau 18ct Gold & Platinum Ring set with a Cabochon Ruby & Diamonds

384R
40 Admirers
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual 18ct gold ring with a platinum top that was made circa 1900-1910. It is typical of the Art Nouveau era. At that time there was a reaction to the stultified designs of the 19th century and a return to natural plant forms as in this ring. It flows in a pretty way, even the shank is curvilinear. It has been set with a cabochon ruby with a transition cut diamond above and below and graduated rose diamonds set in to the openwork surround. It was most likely made in Austria.
