Art Deco Ruby Line Brooch by La Cloche Freres

47N
Written by Olly Gerrish

Lacloche Frères was a Spanish jewellery house known for its Art Deco jewellery and objects. The firm was founded in 1875 by four brothers in Madrid. During the 1920’s and 30’s, the brothers were famous for their brightly coloured, geometric “lacquered and enamelled cigarette and vanity cases, set with diamond and precious stone decorative motifs of mixed inspiration.” This brooch is typical of their fine workmanship and has calibré cut rubies set in a tramline setting. It has the La Cloche mark and it was retailed in Paris. It could equally well be worn by a man on a tie, hat or a stock.
